Manor Activities
Reminiscent of its English heritage, the Manor’s fourteen-acre estate includes a host of recreational activities—tennis on our clay court, croquet, badminton, and an over-sized heated swimming pool and pool cabana on top of Shepherd’s Hill overlooking Squam Lake where you can also relax over lunch.
Exploring Squam Lake is a must to experience one of the most pristine lakes in New Hampshire. Guests who visits Squam Lake enjoy a boat tour, hosted by the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, to see Purgatory Rock and hear the call of the loons. Guests have found a pleasing solitude kayaking on Squam in the early morning when the mist floats over the lake and lends a mystical light to the scene Kayak to one of the many islands where you can enjoy an afternoon of swimming and sunbathing with a picnic lunch from The Manor’s kitchen. If fishing with one of our fellow fishing guides is your sport, you’ll love the tranquility of this well-protected lake. At dusk you may hear the loon’s haunting cry, a distinctive sound that is well-remembered long after your Manor stay.
You may choose to simply relax on one of those clear summer or fall days in an Adirondack chair overlooking the lake and mountains. There are also wonderful areas in the Manor and fireplaces on chilly days where you can unwind with a good book or challenge your partner to a game of chess or backgammon.
